In this blog I hope to explore why and how some of the crazy laws were invented and why they were invented there in the first place:
Bear wrestling matches are prohibited in Alabama.
Although this law sounds amusing it was actually needed to stop bear wrestling a number of years ago. Bear wrestling was a form of entertainment that was cruel and got out of hand in Alabama. The bears were subjected to harsh conditions and often killed.
In Wells , Maine it is illegal to feed a deer.
This law was created because feeding the deer increased the deer population in Maine which was causing huge problems in the city. This was very serious because the deer carried lyme disease which could effect peoples health. So if this law was not in place in this particular city there would be a threat to peoples health.
In Cottage Grove, Minnesota, people whos addresses have odd numbers are not allowed to water there plants on days which are odd numbers.
This law may sound completely ridiculous but it was this citys attempt to try to conserve water. Many different countries and places have tried different methods such as hose pipe bans and such but I wonder is this a bit much like how strictly could this be enforced. I wonder why this particular city decided that this was the best way.
In Fairbanks, Alaska, it is illegal to feed alcoholic beverages to a moose.
This law sounds very strange at first but if you think about it it is trying to protect animal rights. The reason why this law was made in this particular place is that someone must have done it and had been causing problems
